Terms of Service

Welcome to Rooted, a spiritual growth companion built for Christians who want to go deeper in their faith through daily devotionals, Scripture study, prayer, community, and creative expression.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Rooted mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Plexodev LLC. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Eligibility
1.1 Age Requirements
You must be at least 13 years of age to use Rooted. If you are between the ages of 13 and 17, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf, and you represent that they have done so. Users under 13 are not permitted to create an account or use the Service.
1.2 Account Registration
To access most features of Rooted, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update that information if it changes. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may not share your account, transfer it to another person, or use another user's account without permission. Notify us immediately at support@plexodev.com if you suspect any unauthorized use.
Subscription Plans and Payments
2.1 Tiers and Features
2.2 Billing and Renewal
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annual) through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. All fees are non-refundable except as required by law. Price changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance.
2.3 Free Trials
Rooted may offer free trial periods for paid tiers. At the end of a free trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends. We will provide notice of the upcoming charge before your trial expires.
2.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or through the applicable app store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you will retain access to paid features until that date. Cancellation does not entitle you to a prorated refund.
Use of the Service
3.1 License Grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Rooted grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the Rooted application on a device you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial spiritual growth purposes.
3.2 Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- ✕Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- ✕Post or share content that is hateful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or harmful to minors.
- ✕Impersonate any person or entity.
- ✕Interfere with or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
- ✕Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code.
- ✕Scrape or use automated tools to collect content or data from the Service.
- ✕Use AI features to generate content contradicting core Christian teachings or designed to deceive users.
- ✕Sell, sublicense, rent, or otherwise commercialize your access to the Service.
- ✕Upload viruses, malware, or any other harmful code.
- ✕Circumvent any content protection or digital rights management mechanisms.
User-Generated Content
4.1 Your Content
"User Content" means any content you create, upload, post, or otherwise transmit through the Service, including journal entries (SoulNotes), sermon recordings (SpiritScript), prayer requests, community posts, comments, and profile information. You retain ownership of your User Content.
4.2 License to Rooted
By submitting User Content to public or community areas of the Service, you grant Rooted a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, display, and distribute that content solely to operate and improve the Service. Private content (such as SoulNotes journal entries) will not be used for any purpose beyond storage and delivery to you.
4.3 Content Standards
All User Content must comply with our Community Guidelines, which are incorporated by reference into these Terms. We reserve the right to review, remove, or restrict access to User Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
4.4 DMCA / Copyright Takedown
Rooted respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, please send a DMCA-compliant notice to: legal@plexodev.com. We will respond to valid notices and remove or disable access to infringing content in accordance with applicable law.
AI-Powered Features
Rooted uses artificial intelligence to power devotional generation, Bible study tools, ParableRemix, HolyHunt, and other personalized experiences. You acknowledge and agree that:
- ✓AI-generated content is for spiritual enrichment and informational purposes only. It does not constitute pastoral counseling, professional advice, or authoritative theological instruction.
- ✓AI-generated content may contain errors or interpretations that do not reflect the views of your church or denomination. Verify content against Scripture and trusted faith community resources.
- ✓Rooted's AI features are designed to operate within orthodox Christian theological boundaries; however, no automated system is perfect. Please report any theologically inaccurate content via the in-app feedback mechanism.
- ✓You grant Rooted permission to use anonymized interaction data from your use of AI features to improve those features, subject to our Privacy Policy.
Gamified Experiences
Rooted includes gamified features including ParableRemix and HolyHunt. Points, badges, streaks, leaderboard rankings, and other in-app rewards ("Virtual Items") hold no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred between accounts, or redeemed outside the Service. Rooted reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any Virtual Item or gamified feature at any time without liability.
Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information about you when you use the Service. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into and made part of these Terms by reference.

Community and Social Features
Rooted provides community features such as shared devotionals, group prayer, discussion boards, and church-connected spaces. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users. Rooted is not responsible for the conduct of other users, whether online or offline. We reserve the right to investigate reports of harassment, abuse, or violations of Community Guidelines and to take action, including account suspension or permanent ban, in our sole discretion.
Third-Party Services and Links
The Service may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, services, or applications (including church management software, Bible APIs, and ministry platforms). These links are provided for your convenience and do not constitute an endorsement by Rooted. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party services.
Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Service, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, audio clips, AI models, software, and the "Rooted" name and brand, are the exclusive property of Plexodev LLC or its licensors, and are protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, patent, and other intellectual property laws.
Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, service marks, or logos without our prior written consent.
Disclaimers of Warranties
Rooted does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses. Rooted makes no warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any AI-generated or third-party content available through the Service.
Limitation of Liability
In no event shall our aggregate liability to you exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to Rooted in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) $100 USD.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Plexodev LLC and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
14.1 Informal Resolution
Before filing any formal legal action, you agree to contact us at legal@plexodev.com and provide a written description of the dispute. We will work in good faith to resolve the issue informally within 30 days.
14.2 Binding Arbitration
If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. The arbitration shall take place in the United States.
14.3 Class Action Waiver

Either party may seek emergency injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction to prevent actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property rights.
Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Rooted reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms. Upon termination, the license granted to you will immediately cease. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution, shall survive.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will:

- ▸Notify you via in-app notification, email, or both at least 14 days before material changes take effect
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions. For any matters not subject to arbitration, you consent to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Wyoming.
